Conventional or traditional dentures are removable appliances that replace a full arch of upper or lower teeth. This removable appliance is made from various types of resin or, in some cases, porcelain. The prosthetic teeth attach to an acrylic base that is shaded to match the color of the gums to blend in. Conventional dentures are held in place by a thin layer of saliva between the gums and the appliance, which creates suction. Each denture is custom-designed and will need to be adjusted periodically. If you have some remaining natural teeth, a partial denture that is held in place with clasps may also be an option.
